Banj

The village and harbour of Banj is situated on the NE coast of the island of Pasman in Croatia, two miles SE of the Prolaz Mali Zdrelac, the narrow channel between the island and its close neighbour, Ugljan Island. The harbour here is very shallow, with depths of little more than 3.0 metres in the approach, and is therefore only suitable for shallow draft yachts or motor boats.

There are no dangers in the immediate approach to Banj, the chief problem being the shallow depths in the approach, which are little more than 3.0 metres. Banj should therefore not be approached with any swell running and certainly not by any yacht drawing over 1.5 metres. Depths inside are equally shallow, being just 2.0 metres at most. Shelter in the harbour is adequate in winds from W and S but poor in N and E winds.

Entrance

Zadar is the nearest all-year round port of entry, or Sibenik if arriving from S. During the summer, Sali on Dugi Otok and Primosten on the mainland are also ports of entry.

Berthing

If your draft allows you to approach Banj, the only realistic mooring option is alongside on the quay of the E breakwater, as close to the end as possible. Depths alongside here are just 2.0 metres. Further in the quay is occupied by small boat moorings and in any case shoals to 1.0 - 1.5 metres.
