Navigation is straightforward once Pointe de Combrit is rounded. If approaching from the North, it is important to check the state of tides at Pointe du Raz. The tide race around Pointe de Penmarc'h is less strong.
Berthing
Marinas & Yacht Clubs
Port de Penfoul marina at the entrance to the Benodet River offer the full range of marina services. Visitors berth on the outer pontoons, where care is needed when mooring to allow for the river current. On the other side of the river, the pretty village of Sainte Marine has buoys for visitors and good restaurants ashore. More recent reports suggest a pontoon has been installed off Sainte Marine (update needed).
Anchorages
Yachts can anchor off Anse de Trez except in onshore winds. There are also several very picturesque spots further up the Benodet River where it is possible to anchor overnight and wake to the sound of birdsong.

Tourism
The village of Sainte Marine, on the west bank of the river, is very attractive. A trip up the Benodet River, where there are several lovely anchorages overlooked by impressive chateaux, is also well worthwhile. By dinghy, it is also possible to travel upstream to the delightful and historic town of Quimper.

- Other than the similar landscape of the Trieux River, the Benodet River is one of the most tranquil landscapes it is possible to visit by yacht in France - s/y Athene of Lymington.
