More notes about the marina

The marina of Doca de Alcantara in Lisbon is the fourth marina upriver from the entrance, just over a mile past the suspension bridge. Operated by the Port of Lisbon, it is the first of the Lisbon marinas (from the river entrance) in which a visiting yacht is likely to find space. The marina has a total of 425 berths for yachts up to 20 metres and with a maximum draft of 7.0 metres. Commercial traffic shares the basin, so the water can be quite dirty in here. Note there is no fuel berth here.

Communication

Call Porto de Lisboa (Port of Lisbon) on VHF channel 12 or 74.

Navigation

Entrance to the Doca de Alcantara

See Lisbon for approach to the river entrance. Doca de Alcantara lies just over a mile upstream of the large suspension bridge on the N side of the river. The entrance (to port) is well hidden behind a commercial wharf and can be difficult to locate. A pedestrian bridge spans the entrance and it will be opened on request. The operator needs to be contacted on VHF channel 68 by yachts wishing to access the inner basin,. The marina is in not particularly attractive surroundings and the water can be oily, but it is just a 10 minute walk to the tram for the city centre.

Berthing

Berthing assistance is not available. Yachts berth usually to finger berths on a series of nine pontoons.

Facilities

  • Reception.
  • Toilets & showers
  • Although reception and showers are in portacabins, both are comfortable with lots of hot water available.

Repairs

No repair or maintenance facilities.

Security

Good (PIN access).

Location

Doca de Alcantara is a 10 minute walk to the tram for the city centre. Turn left from the marina and down the subway for the trains, or buy a joint ticket for metro and buses from the cigarette kiosk. There is a Pingo Doce just over the road, which is good for stocking up.

Transportation

Airport of Lisbon 15 kms away. A tram is going directly to the center 3 EUR per way (2016) or about 20 min strong walking.

Price

Daily mooring rate for typical 13 meter yacht (November 2016): Euros 33.

For the latest prices see Price Listing.

Personal experience

Post your personal experience and rating of this marina.

  • Had 11 weeks here in 2014, it's cheap but clean and friendly (the second cheapest marina we found: for our Jeanneau 35 we paid 14 euros). Links to town are easy, supermarket is close by. But be warned: on rave nights it's noisy.--Grant
