More notes about the marina

Port de la Pointe Rouge is a relatively new marina constructed at the settlement of Pointe Rouge, six kms S of the city of Marseille. By sea, it is just four miles from the Vieux Port of Marseille. It offers a convenient stopover for a visit to the famous French city just a short ferry ride away. It is usually easier to find a berth here during the busiest months of July and August than in the Vieux Port. The marina has 1200 berths for yachts up to 15 metres in depths of up to 6.5 metres.

Communication

Contact the marina office on VHF channel 09. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail to enquire about advance reservations.

Navigation

Plan of Port de la Pointe Rouge

The marina is entered from NNE through a narrow channel between the outer breakwater and a large area of hard standing. Care should be taken to stay at least 300 metres off shore on the approach as the whole coast on either side is subject to navigation restrictions. Depths in the access channel are 7.0 metres and in the basin itself 6.5 - 2.5 metres. The arrivals pontoon is to starboard on entry. Shelter in the marina is good in the prevailing winds but there can be a slight surge on the outer berths in strong N winds.
