The tiny harbour of Sveta Nedjelja (aka Sveta Nedilja or Svijeta Nedija) is situated on the W side of the S coast of the island of Hvar in Croatia. The harbour is protected by a two breakwaters on the W side.

Smaller yachts can tie up on the inner breakwater and a larger one -- on the outer. The breakwater moorings are run by the local restaurant.

Navigation

Entering the harbour it's important to keep close to the inner breakwater as the bottom raises quickly there towards the shore.

Entrance

The town of Hvar is the nearest summer port of entry. At other times of year, Split or Korcula are the nearest year-round ports of entry.

Berthing

Bilo Idro

A restaurant runs a local "marina" on both breakwaters. Yachts moor where directed. Prior communication by phone is required.

Max. LOA on the inner breakwater is 18 m, draft -- 4 m. Hardly more than one boat of such length could fit there, but smaller boats could be rafted. The bottom raises quickly towards the shore there. At the outer breakwater: max. LOA is 40m, draft -- 7 m.

The mooring at the outer breakwater is rather exposed to everything from E to S and should be used in settled weather only. The mooring at the inner breakwater is quite well protected.

The village located next to Sv. Nikola (St. Nicholas; 626 metres), the highest peak of the island. Climbing and trekking seems to be rather popular there. In about 1 hour uphill there are some natural grottoes. One of them was the site of an Augustinian monastery in the Middle Ages.
