Navigation

The marina is located at: 18°25.50N 69°36.67W on the south shore of the Dominican Republic (Island of Hispaniola). The harbor is referred to as San Andreas (old harbor) or Caucedo (new harbor).

Coming in, you will pass the new harbor (mega port) and leave it to port. As you turn to starboard at the end of the channel entering, you will leave the old harbor also to port. Favouring your port side, you will then leave the private club Nautico to port, and ahead you will see the marina.

The bottom is mostly sand and mud and the controlling depth is 10 feet, (when the wind is out of the NE, the depth will be less by about one foot and, if you arrive at low tide, allow for another foot.) Vessels drawing more than 7’ should contact the marina before entry for assistance.

Berthing

Is berthing assistance available, etc.

Check In

At Marina ZarPar, Immigration is located in the marina. If this is your point of entry, Immigration will visit you on your boat. There is a flat fee of $43.00 to bring your boat into the country. And $15.00 per Visa per person for 30 days (easily renewable).

You will also be visited by Marina Guerra (Coast Guard) to whom you will provide your papers from your previous port, as well as copies of your passports and a crew’s list. You will have no further contact with them until you are ready to leave, at which time you will need to obtain a despacho (permission to go to the next named port either in the DR or out of the country).

You will also be visited by Drug enforcement (M-2), who will ask to check below deck. They will also ask you if you have any type of firearms which they will require you to surrender until you leave.

There is also a $100.00 service fee which goes to the Immigration office to support the people who work at this offsite location and also to the Marina Guerra when it comes time to get your Despacho for your destination when departing.

Once you have paid this fee, all tips and service charges related to Immigration and Marina Guerra are covered.

Check in and check out procedures at Boca Chica are extremely streamlined and the marina staff is trained to assist you. Upon arrival the entire process generally takes less than 30 minutes.

You should have copies of your Crew List available for both Immigration and Marina Guerra.

Clearance procedures vary somewhat from harbor to harbor in the DR.
