POI template
How is about adding some structure for POIs (and perhaps alike)?
Please have a look at Template:Poi, which is perhaps the simplest approach.
This would allow to (a) impose an unified styling to POIs, and ability to change it; (b) process these data by some scripting tools (for example to show POI on a map like it was done at Wikivoyage).
It appears to be difficult to make something more sophisticated (again like Template:Listing at Wikivoyage, which would require some extras). But even having a basic structure like Template:Poi it would be possible to transform the data later on into some other form. -- Vadp 14:05, 8 December 2014 (GMT)
POI
What is a POI?
POI -- point of interest -- a map marker or a listing item usually with some geo-coded location (address and/or coordinates) -- Vadp 17:25, 14 December 2014 (GMT)
Page headings
In many articles a page title repeated 2-3 times: Sardinia, Italy, etc.
On top of that a phrase like: "An online cruising guide for yachts sailing to Italy.", does not add that much to its content.
My original thought was to assemble these heading, table of content and the Help:Embeddable_templates#Infobox into a single template, but perhaps that's an overkill.
Any ideas? --Vadp 19:42, 2 March 2015 (GMT)
A way of cloning from a page template
Actually there is a different way of creating a new page.
You start editing an empty page simply by putting a reference to an article template like this: {{subst:Template name}}
Then you save this edit. When you open this page for an edit again then instead of a text just typed in it will have the template's text copied in. --Vadp 19:43, 2 March 2015 (GMT)
- See also User:Vadp/Template_Port for another, perhaps better, way for creating a new page from a template -- Vadp 17:52, 24 March 2015 (GMT)
Embeddable templates
I think it's a nicely worded paragraph at the top of the page. Well done! --Vadp 17:55, 24 March 2015 (GMT)
