La Linea, on the border between Spain and Gibraltar, has long played second fiddle to its larger neighbour to the south, Gibraltar, where marine activities are concerned. That situation was to change dramatically in March 2010 with the planned opening of the huge new Alcaidesa Marina and residential development just a short 5-minute walk north of Gibraltar airport.

In addition to this, there are around 1000 parking spaces.

The Marina differs from its competitors along the coastline of Andalusia in that it boasts a water and electricity supply tower for every two moorings, with independent meters and systems for pre-payment and payment based on consumption. The berths are wider than usual, being designed to accommodate modern boats, and WiFi internet access is available as well as a television connection on pontoons P10, P11 and P12.
