More notes about the marina
Marina Veli Rat pontoons

Marina Veli Rat lies in the bay of Zaljev Pantera in the large gulf of Luka Soliscica at the NW end of the island of Dugi Otok in Croatia. Dugi Otok itself lies 10 miles SW of the major city of Zadar, with its good ferry links and international airport. The marina, which opens all year round, offers a total of 110 berths for yachts up to 20 metres in depths of up to 4.0 metres. The marina offers good shelter in most wind conditions, but a chop develops on some of the pontoons in strong NW winds.

Communication

Call Marina Veli Rat on VHF channel 17. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail for advance reservations.

Navigation

There are numerous dangers in the approach to the Gulf of Luka Soliscica and a careful examination of the chart is needed. Once in the gulf, the approach to the marina is through the bay of Zaljev Pantera on the W side of the gulf. Zaljev Pantera is entered by rounding a starboard buoy at the end of a low rocky spit which extends for half a mile SE from the headland on the W side of the entrance to the gulf. After rounding the buoy, head NW for a mile into the bay and continue round the coast of the bay for a further mile, avoiding the shallows in centre of the bay, to arrive at the marina.

Berthing

Berthing assistance available on request. Visiting yachts berth stern/bows-to on either side of two long pontoons extending N from the coast immediately W of the village of Veli Rata. Depths on the pontoons range from 3.0 to 4.0 metres. Deeper draft yachts berth on the outside of the N pontoon. Laid moorings at all berths.
