Welcome to CruisersWiki!

We all look forward to your valued contributions to the Cruising Wiki. Help it grow as a useful, free resource for all cruisers around the world.

Spend a little time reading the help pages (link in L/H menu) and the Style Guide to gain a better understanding of the Wiki formatting and how to edit articles. Please add what you can - even correcting grammar and spelling errors in articles is a great help. The more you use the Wiki the easier (and more addictive) it becomes.

Use any page's "Discussion" tab (top of page's menu) to ask any questions or make any suggestions about that particular page.

Please set your personal preferences in "My Preferences" (link at top R/H of page when logged in).

Also, please read the Cruiserswiki Copyrights notice, as well as the General Disclaimers (links at bottom of pages).

Again, welcome and have fun! Bring out that hidden "Cruising Guide writer" in you. Lighthouse 10:52, 6 August 2011 (BST)

May I also extend a welcome to the Wiki as a former visitor by yacht to Crotone. Your website is very interesting, but may I suggest it could be considerably improved (especially for users of the World Cruising Wiki, who are predominantly owners of sailing yachts) by some information about the berthing facilities for sailing yachts in Crotone? --Athene of Lymington 12:16, 6 August 2011 (BST)

With respect, I note you've responded by filling the Wiki page for Crotone with information promoting tourism to the city. I suggest you'd be better employed revising your own website to reflect your apparent desire to attract yachtsmen to the harbour. --Athene of Lymington 23:09, 6 August 2011 (BST)

Thank you for your suggestions, we started our project thinking of cruise ships but I guess we could improve the contents adding some more usefull information for yachtsmen as well. Can you tell me some well done websites concerning other ports ? Kind regards. Portofcrotone

I've yet to find any harbour that does it really well, but as an example, look at the attached page [1]. This website promotes the harbour of Trogir in Croatia and the relevant section is accessed by clicking on a link called 'Nautical Guide' on the main webpage - although 'Yachtsmen's Guide' would be better. It summarises the facilities available in and near the harbour for visiting yachts and includes most of the key information, e.g. number of berths, maximum length of vessel, facilities available at the berth (such as water, electricity) and nearby (such as toilets, showers, bars and restaurants etc.). The only piece of important information missing is the depth of water at the moorings, which is vital for deeper draft yachts, and an indication of price. If you included a section with this information for Crotone, you'd be a step ahead of most of the Mediterranean ports we have visited. We're planning to visit Crotone again ourselves in 2012 or 2013, so it would be useful information for us as well as for other potential cruising visitors. Hope this is helpful. --Athene of Lymington 16:18, 7 August 2011 (BST)
