Access to Bradenton Beach is tricky and the shoals move frequently. Mariners without local knowledge should not attempt entry. A narrow channel from the Gulf at the south end of Anna Maria Island features rapid currents and a narrow single leaf drawbridge. After approaching the drawbridge from the Gulf, you will find a wide sandbar unless you make a hard left or hard right which puts you perpendicular to the fast floor or ebb flow! Good Luck
At the north end of Anna Maria, one will find the remants of Passage Key which has been destroyed by storms and is now just a sandbar exposed only at low tide.
The simple approach is the excellent channel into Tampa Bay just north of Egmont Key, which has heavy shipping use but is deep outside the channel after getting east of Egmont.
Entrance
If this is not a port of entry omit this section, otherwise submit details about facilities for checking in - location of immigration & customs, etc.
