Ibiza is the third largest of the Balearic Islands. The island is a World Heritage Site, for it's biodiversity and culture.
The coast of Ibiza is home to posidonia oceanica, a seagrass only found in the Mediterranean that supports a diverse coastal and marine ecosystem. The island also contains numerous Phoenician ruins, and the fortified and walled older portions of the city date to the 16th century.

Communication
Berthing
There are 3 harbours on the island:
- (aka the city of Ibiza or Ibiza town) is the main city on the island
- (aka San Antonio) is a nightlife centre of the island
- is the 3rd town in the island, with less nightlife than two others
There are 4 marinas in the port of Eivissa (city of Ibiza) and the other two are in Sant Antoni de Portmany and Santa Eularia des Riu. All of them are known for notoriously high prices in season.
Anchorages
There are plenty of anchorages around the whole island, but finding a good anchorage in season could be a problem.
See the respective harbour articles for more details.
Transportation
There are daily flights to the Spanish mainland and other destinations within the EU as well as ferries to Alicante.
Tourism
Ibiza was first settled by the Phoenicians (Carthaginians) in 654 BC and then by the Greeks who called the island Pitiusas. After the Punic Wars the island was taken over by the Romans. In 1235, like the rest of the Balearic islands Ibiza was conquered by James I of Aragon.
