The marina is now established in the new harbour at Rethimno and consists of a series of pontoons with laid moorings. All the pontoons have water and electricity, as do most of the surrounding quays. Visitng yachts should moor on the most northerly of the pontoons (pontoon C), where there are usually a few unoccupied berths. Berths are suppied with two mooring lines, both buoyed and with pickup lines back to the quay. Note, however, that the mooring lines themselves are very thick and quite short, so that yachts over 13m are unlikely to be able to keep themselves off the pontoon and are better finding a space to go alongside on the quays. There is a charge of €7 for water and €4 for electricity, though this seems to be only intermittently levied. A free wifi network is available from the Port of Rethymno. There are WCs on the marina quay, although there were locked at the time of visiting (June 2009). The reference in Heikell's Greek Waters Pilot to local youths using the marina quay for 'drag racing' appears to have been solved with the installation of security barriers.
Warning: With a strong northerly there can be a bad swell at the entrance of the harbor.

Tourism & things to do ashore
In town there is the Museum, in an old Turkish building, and the Folklor Museum, in a Venetian building. A visit to the historic Arkady Monastery and its Museum is worthwhile.
