More notes about the Marina

Marina Zenta is a purpose-built, small boat harbour (maximum length 15 metres) situated a mile E of the main harbour of Split on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. The marina is owned by a club, the Pomorsko Sportsko Drustvo Zenta (PSD Zenta) and the moorings here are primarily for club members. Visitors are, however, welcomed if there is space available.

Marina radio contact

Try calling Pomorsko Sportsko Drustvo Zenta (if you can pronounce it!) on VHF channel 17 or 16. As a yacht club, they do not keep listening watch at all times. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail to enquire about berthing.

Navigation/Approach

There are no hazards in the approach to Split, although the coast on either side of the main harbour has a number of isolated rocks and should not be approached too closely. The city is easily identified from some distance off by a tall, disused lighthouse just E of the main harbour entrance. Marina Zenta lies one mile E of the main harbour, protected by a long S and short W breakwater. Entry is from S between the breakwaters, then turn to starboard to enter the marina (the small inner harbour to port is too shallow for most yachts). Depths in the entrance are around 7.0 metres. A shoal patch is reported 20m off the entrance, but it is not known if it is marked.

Berthing

Berthing assistance may be available. Yachts berth stern/bows-to where directed on one of six long pontoons or along the quays. Laid moorings at all berths. Maximum depths in the marina are 5.0 metres.

Marina facilities

  • Café/bar
  • Leisure centre
  • Swimming pool

Repairs/Yard

Small boatyard. Hard standing for up to 120 yachts. Slipway (20T). Crane (10T). Some engine, electrical and electronic repairs. Paint works.

Security

Moderate.

Marina Location

The marina is situated a mile E of the large commercial harbour of Split. There are regular buses into the centre. Split is a major transport hub, with an international airport and good rail links. The airport itself is only 23 kms W of the marina.

Transport

  • Buses and trains to Zagreb
  • Ferries to Rijeka, Dubrovnik and Ancona (Italy)
  • International flights from Split airport (20 kms)

Price

Daily mooring price unknown.
