Daydream Island, previously known as West Molle Island is a small island between the north/south running island group formed by North and South Molle island and the mainland. The island is entirely occupied by a resort. There are approximately 6 moorings to the east of the island along with a dinghy landing. The resort rents these moorings for approx $50 per night per vessel, and this gives the crew the run of the island and resort facilities. Facilities include swimming pools, outdoor spa pools, etc, and there are also showers and toilets. Extras such as the restaurant, cocktail bar, massage services, etc, are at an extra cost.

Cruising the region

The tidal currents around the island can be quite strong, however the moorings appear to have good holding in all conditions.

Approach and Navigation

Approach the western side of the island from either the north or the south. Be aware of the currents. Contact the island staff on +61 7 4948 8488 who will direct you to a mooring.

Berthing Options

Anchorages

Due to the currents, attempting to anchor around the island is probably unwise, and the resort probably takes a dim view of this. The only feasible option is to use the resort moorings.

Personal Notes

Personal experiences?

  • Delatbabel -- I visited there in 2007, and although the moorings are expensive at $50 per night, they are certainly cheaper than a room in the 5 star hotel on the resort. It was a welcome break from cruising the outer islands. We found the staff at the resort to be helpful and attentive beyond belief, considering that between the 5 of us we were paying approximately 10% of the cost of the other guests. Free use of the pools and spas were a welcome and unexpected bonus.
