A sheltered and very attractive bay, Loutro (Λουτρό) is the only natural harbour on the south coast of Crete. The bay offers good shelter from all directions except S-SE, when Chora Sfakion may offer slightly better shelter. Anchor in 6-7 metres in sand, avoiding the weed patch in the centre of the bay. The SW end of the harbour has a ferry quay and a few small craft moorings and there is an isolated rock just awash 50m off the shore on the NE side (marked with a small concrete 'pot'). Loutro has no road access, only via the ferry from Hora Sfakion, so is blessedly free of road traffic.
