More notes about the marina

Mali Lošinj Marina lies on the E side of the inlet of Mali Lošinj on the island of Lošinj in Croatia, immediately S of the confusingly similarly named marina of Marina Lošinj on the other side of the canal. The marina offers a total of 80 berths for yachts up to 18 metres in depths up to 7.0 - 8.0 metres. It also has hard standing for over 100 yachts and covered storage. The marina is safe in all wind conditions, although strong N winds can cause an uncomfortable chop. The marina is just under a mile from the facilities of the town of Mali Lošinj.

Communication

Call Mali Lošinj Marina on VHF channel 17. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail for advance reservations.

Navigation

The approach to Mali Lošinj is through a 500-metre wide channel between the island of O. Koludarc to the S and the headland of Rt. Torunza to the N. Both should be given a good clearance as there are shallows extending for some 50 metres off them. Mali Lošinj Marina lies along the N shoreline of the inlet, around two miles from the NW entrance to Mali Lošinj and immediately S of the Prolaz Privlaka, a narrow canal dug through the narrow spit of land that encloses the E side of the inlet.

An alternative approach is from the E of Losinj island, through the canal itself. Depths in the canal are around 3.0 metres but the width is little over 6.0 metres and passage is therefore only suitable for monohulls of a moderate draft. The bridge which carries the road over the canal opens morning and evening (currently 0900 and 1800) to allow passage by yachts. Shelter in Mali Lošinj Marina is good in most conditions, although in strong NW winds conditions can get a little choppy.

Assistance is available on request. Visiting yachts berth stern/bows-to along the quay or on a T-shaped concrete catwalk. Depths around 7.0 - 8.0 metres. Laid moorings at all berths.
