More notes about the marina

Marina Funtana is situated in the bay of the same name, four miles S of the harbour and marina of Porec and two miles N of Vrsar. The marina is owned and operated by the Montraker leisure resort company, which also operates the small marina of Marina Vrsar in the town of the same name. Marina Funtana offers 180 berths for yachts up to 20 metres in depths of up to 4.5 metres.

Communication

Try contacting Marina Funtana on VHF channel 17 prior to entry. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail to enquire about berthing or advance reservations. Reception hours are 0800 - 1500.

Navigation

The principal dangers in the approach to Marina Funtana are the numerous rocky islets and associated shoals lying up to half a mile offshore in the approaches from both N and S. The safest approach is from WNW, passing N of the island of Veliki Skolj at the SW corner of Funtana bay, and keeping towards the centre of the bay to avoid shallows extending 300 metres from the N and S shores. The marina breakwater is conspicuous once close in. The marina is entered from NNE. Depths in the marina range from 2.5 - 4.5 metres, the deeper water being towards the end of the pontoons. Shelter is reasonable, although strong NW winds create a surge.

Berthing

Berthing assistance available. Yachts berth bows or stern-to on the outer breakwater or one of three long pontoons. There are laid moorings at all berths.
