Navigation/Approach

Biograd is approached either from NW along the channel separating the mainland from the islands of Ugljan and Pasman or from S around the southern end of the island of Pasman. There are no dangers in the approach from NW other than the numerous islands in the Pasmanski Kanal. In the approach from S, note that the island of Sv. Katerina has shoals extending half a mile off its eastern coast. Also a green marker buoy indicates a shoal patch 200 metres SW of the entrance to the marinas. The buildings of the town and the masts in the marinas are conspicuous from some distance off. The harbour lies on the N side of the peninsula on which the town sits. The outer part is occupied by Marina Kornati, while Marina Sangulin lies in the somewhat shallower, inner part of the harbour inside the two smaller inner breakwaters.
