Marina di Campo is situated in the NW corner of the Golfo di Campo, a lovely sandy bay on the south coast of the island of Elba. The town is the second largest settlement on Elba and a popular tourist resort. Its harbour is primarily a fishing harbour, but one or two yachts may be able to squeeze in an an anchor moor to the end of the eastern breakwater, where depths are 3.5 - 5.0 metres. The town still retains much of its charm in spite of the tourist influx during July and August.

Local Weather

The harbour is sheltered from SW round to NW. Strong winds from E round to S make it very uncomfortable and even untenable

Sources for Weather forecasts:

  • There is a continuous (computerised voice) weather forecast on VHF 68 - first in Italian and then followed with an English translation
  • The same forecast is given in Italian and English on VHF coastal stations following a notification on channel 16
  • Navtex weather forecasts are broadcast from stations at Roma, Cagliari (Sardinia) and Augusta (Sicily)
