The Marina di Ravenna lies at the city of Ravenna on the Adriatic coast of Italy, 30 miles NW of the port of Rimini and 80 miles S of the entry to the lagoon of Venice. The marina is situated at the N end of a large basin at the S end of which is the larger Marina di Marinara. Marina di Ravenna offers berths for a total of 658 yachts of up to 15 metres, split between two different yacht clubs, the Ravenna Yacht Club (RYC) and the Circulo Velico Ravennate (CVR). Depths in the marina range from 1.3 to 3.5 metres, the deeper water being on the E side.

Communication

Try calling Marina di Ravenna on VHF channel 09 prior to entry. For advance reservations, telephone or e-mail the relevant yacht club. Otherwise, berth alongside the hammerheads at the end of the RYC pontoons and visit the club.

Navigation

The harbour of Ravenna is protected by two long converging breakwaters extending more than a mile out to sea in a roughly triangular formation, with the entrance at the apex. The entrance is usually busy with commercial traffic. Yachts are not allowed to proceed inland up the channel or to berth in the commercial harbour and once through the entrance should therefore head straight for the entrance to the two marinas in an inner basin at the SW corner of the harbour about a mile WSW of the entrance. Marina di Ravenna is the northerly one, hard to starboard on entry.

Berthing

The berths are managed by two concessionaires, the Ravenna Yacht Club, which manages the three westernmost pontoons (where depths are 1.5 - 3.0 metres) and the Circolo Velico Ravennate, which manages berths on the three easternmost pontoons, which are in slightly deeper water. All moorings are stern or bows-to between mooring posts. Of the two clubs, the RYC is more likely to have space for a visiting yacht and its three hammerheads are more convenient for temporary berthing while waiting to be assigned a berth.
