Plan of Olive Island Marina

Olive Island Marina lies at the head of the bay of U. Sutomiscica on the NE coast of the island of Ugljan in Croatia. The bay is just three miles WSW of the city of Zadar on the mainland. The marina, which opens all year round, offers a total of 225 berths for yachts up to 50 metres in depths of up to 7.0 metres. It unusual name is a reference to the supposed derivation of Ugljan from the Croat word for olive. The marina offers good shelter in most wind conditions, but strong NE winds send a swell into the bay and some berths in the marina are affected.

Communication

Call Olive Island Marina on VHF channel 17. Alternatively, telephone or e-mail for advance reservations.

Navigation

There are no dangers in the approach. Depths in the entrance are 2.5 - 3.0 metres.

Berthing

Berthing assistance available on request. Visiting yachts berth stern/bows-to on the inside of the breakwater or on one of four other pontoons extending from the SW shore. Depths in the marina range from 2.0 metres up to 7.0 metres. Laid moorings at all berths. Berthing at the end of the breakwater wall in strong N winds can be challenging due to lack of protection and the angle of the wall.

Alternatively, it is possible to anchor off the marina (as long as there is nothing N in the wind) in 4.0 - 5.0 metres. Good holding in sand and mud. There may also be space to berth alongside one of the jetties off the village of Sutomiscica on the E side of the inlet. Depths alongside are 2.5 - 3.0 metres. There is a small provisions shop nearby in the village.
