Podgora
| |
| |
The small harbour of Podgora lies on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, three miles SE of the harbour of Tučepi and five NW of the even smaller harbour and anchorage of Igrane. The islands of Brač and Hvar lie 15 miles to the NW and 12 miles S respectively. In historical times a naval and fishing base, Podgora is now a thriving holiday town and its harbour has been converted into a mini ‘marina’ with space for up to 220 vessels.
The harbour is usually full of local small craft, but visiting yachts can usually find a space stern/bows-to on the quay in the basin immediately to starboard on entry. Shelter in the harbour is good in the wind from all directions except the SW and the SE, when there is a surge.

There are no dangers in the approach from the N. If approaching from the S, note that there is a rocky ledge extending for 400 metres off Rt Tekla, the headland just under a mile SE of Podgora. There is a white concrete monument on the hill above the harbour, which is visible from some distance off. Once closer in, the long breakwater protecting the harbour from W is conspicuous and the red light structure on the end of it. The harbour is entered from SE. Depths in the entrance are unknown.
