[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiberon_Bay la Baie de Quiberon] is famous in Naval history for the famous battle of 1795 when in appalling conditions Sir Edward Hawke destroyed a French fleet. Given a glance at modern charts it is easy to understand how so many ships with rudimentary navigation, and in the dark, could have been lost on the numerous islands, islets, rock reefs and isolated rocks around and south of the Quiberon Peninsula.

However this should not put the cruising yachtsman off, as all navigational hazards are well charted and marked, and entering this bight in the coastline from the north is easy, paying attention to the tidal streams through the Teignouse passage. Approaching Crouesty is straightforward, with no hazards that are not clearly charted, once in Quiberon Bay.  Set a waypoint for the first of the Starboard hand channel buoys, or track 058 degrees to it. Two towers provide leading marks, with the rear grey concrete tower being clearly visible if approaching in the correct quadrant. At LW Springs (or coefficients around 45) just inside the entrance can be shallow with a Charted depth of 1.4m.
