Quintero is a Chilean city and commune in Valparaíso Province, in the Valparaíso Region, 30 kilometers north of Valparaíso. The commune spans an area of 147.5 km2 (57 sq mi).[2] It was the first port in the country, created during the expedition of Don Diego de Almagro .

The harbor entrance is clear and is not buoyed, except for the “monoboya” of the Oil Company. There are no currents in the area. Call “Club de Yates de Quintero” on VHF 16 and Maria Elena will arrange to come out and guide you in on the mooring. She can send a boat to help or guide you. (No charge, but a tip is appreciated.)
Please note that the Bahia has a lot of moored fisherman boats so approach carefully from the North in order to avoid the boats and lines. Please also be on the lookout for fishermen that work in the bay. The Yacht Club has 24 Hrs. marine services and we could help you with the clearance at the Capitanía de Puerto.
Entrance
Quintero is a port of entry/exit for Chile. For details see Entrance: Chile.
It is required to call 'Quintero Radio', VHF Ch 16, prior to arrival. Quintero is the first port of entry. A visa is not required ahead of arrival. All procedures are straightforward. According to Chilean regulations concerning the legal stay and use of pleasure vessels in Chile, all boats must have a Temporary Importation Permit ( Permiso de Importación Temporal) issued by the Customs Department.
The yacht club can help with formalities at the Capitanía de Puerto.

Club de Yates de Quintero [[Quintero#Club de Yates de Quintero|Club de Yates de Quintero]] 32°46.700'S, 071°31.600'W Club de Yates de Quintero has 50 moorings located in the South of the bay which is very well protected from the weather. Clients have access to the dinghy dock, bathrooms, showers and internet. The area around the Club has all kinds of services such as a hardware store, laundromat, supermarket, marine services, hotels, shops, beach, restaurants, bars, dive shop, laundry, internet, ice cream shop and a church. You can get by bus to Valparaiso in one hour. The yacht club offers a mooring service, dry storage, and complete repair services. Crane is limited to 10 Ton.
