The beach resort of Srebreno is situated on the mainland coast of Croatia two miles NNW of the harbour of Cavtat and six miles SE of the port of Dubrovnik. Except for Cavtat, it is the last berthing option for a cruising yacht before arriving at the border with Montenegro just over 20 miles SE. A short walk E around the bay is the town of Mlini with a good range of shops and other facilities. Visiting yachts can berth alongside on the large quay on the SW side of the bay of Srebreno (if there is space) or anchor off on the E side of the bay, clear of the numerous small craft moorings. Shelter here is good in most conditions except with strong southerlies, which cause a considerable swell.

There are no hazards in the approach to Srebreno.

Berthing

There are only two berthing options in Srebreno, the quay at the SW end of the bay and the anchorage in the bay itself. See below for details.

SW quay

There is a small quay at the SW corner of the bay, immediately inside the short breakwater on the headland with a red light structure. Tripper boats use the quay here, but there is usually room for a visiting yacht to go alongside. Having said that, this section of quay is used by the local kids for swimming on hot days and the steps here are the only means to get out of the water. You will thus not be popular if you moor here at such times. Depths along the quay range from 5.0 metres near the breakwater to 3.0 metres at the inner end. Shelter on the quay is good in all but strong southerly winds, when the swell becomes very unpleasant and potentially dangerous. Very strong N winds also cause an uncomfortable chop on the quay and you may be better off going stern-to using the anchor to hold you off.

There is a good anchorage on the E side of the bay off the beach, which provides good shelter in all but S winds. Anchor in 5.0 - 6.0, clear of the numerous small craft moorings. The holding is good in sand and weed.

Tourism

There is very little of tourist interest in Srebreno and even less in Mlini. It is really an overnight stop on passage along the coast.
