A year of mirror dinghy sailing at the age of 17 could hardly be classed as preparation for owning a Junk rigged Rival 41, 35 years later. However, I appear to have risen to the challenge. The past 17 months my husband and I have been living aboard in Hong Kong, whilst we refit for cruising. My husband, by his own admission, is not a 'handyman' so, I'm the first mate and have had to get my head around everything from rewiring to stern gland stuffing. I saw you had no information about Hong Kong and as I have gleaned so much from generous sailors on the internet, I felt I'd like to put something back. We sailed her for the first time yesterday and, with the bulk of the hard graft over, I think I might have a little time to contribute!
