Bizerte is a port in north Tunisia.

The city is known as the oldest and most European city in Tunisia. It was founded around 1100 BC by Semitic Phoenicians from Sidon.[3][4] It is also known as the last town to remain under French control after the rest of the country won its independence from France. Today it is the oil capital of Tuisia. It has a still authentic medina and a pleasant center around it's old harbour (Vieux Port).

Navigation

Entry to the port area is possible north of the breakwater or south of it. Large and commercial ships are using the south side, but if ther is no traffic the author advises to use the south one, as the north entry is at points fairly shallow, though no problem was experienced with a drought of 1.7m.

Entrance

Bizerte is a port of entry to Tunisia. But, like all Tunisian ports, you must check-in even if you have already been cleared into the Tunisia.

For details about clearing see Tunisia.
