More notes about the marina |
Port Huon Marina (previously known as Kermandie Marina) is a small marina tucked into the mouth of the Kermandie River, where it enters Hospital Bay in the Huon River. The nearby Port Huon was a major export port for apples in the mid 20th century. It is the southern most marina in Australia. The marina is very new and improvements appear to be ongoing. Most berths appear full, but there does not seem to be any difficulties in obtaining the occasional casual berth.

Once in Hospital Bay, head for the moored boats in the north western corner of the bay. At the western end of the moorings, there is a marked channel (red and green stakes) marking the channel to the marina. The channel is narrow, close to the shore and has a minimum depth of around 2.5 metres.
If prior arrangements have not been made, there may be spot to tie up on the inside of the outer finger.
Narrow, shallow approach from Hospital Bay, marked by port and starboard stakes.
