Yalova is a harbour on the south side of the Sea of Marmara. The city is the capital of the province and has a lively market, supermarkets, shops and everything else you might expect in a Turkish city.

Passages
The large marinas (Fenerbahce & Kalamis) close to Istanbul are about 25 miles to the north. Coming from the west (Aegean), Dardanelles, then Port Marmara to Yalova is 90 miles.
Islands
The Princes Islands are about 15 miles to the north. Heybeliada is the second largest and has a pleasant port on the north coast with limited mooring and a large popular anchorage (Çam Limani) on the south side. It can be very busy at weekends with boats from nearby Istanbul.

The approach is simple with no obvious dangers. The marina lies beside the ferry terminal on the western side.
Berthing
In Yalova yachts are met by a marina launch and guided to a berth. The marina office staff are friendly and helpful and speak English.

Setur Marina Yalova
Setur Marina Yalova is in a pleasant location and provides good shelter and security. The road entrance has 24 hour guard and the pontoons are secured by card-operated gates. Pontoons are tidy and clean and monitored. WC/shower block is excellent - clean, smart and very good large individual shower rooms.
Setur Yalova offer a '2 for 1' deal for stays of two months or more. Pay for 2 and stay for 4, up to 1 year, (get 2)' the cost for a year for a 9m yacht was quoted as 2300 euro, working out as 1250 euro each year under the current deal. This also entitles you to 50% discount at all other Setur marinas.
Anchorages
There are no anchorages in Yalova. The best anchorages in the area are at the Princes Islands.

| Repairs | A large hardstanding area exists on the western side of the marina, with an expertly-handled 80 tonne travel lift. There are several repair firms being set up in the marina, who are mostly concerned with maintaining local boats. High quality repairs in teak and mahogany can be carried out here, but only limited English spoken. The marina office staff can help with this.
Further repair services can be carried out or managed by an Englishman who has lived in Turkey for the last 20 years, and operates from the hardstanding area of the marina. He is called Brian Pemberton, speaks Turkish and English and carries out work to a high standard. |

Provisioning
Plenty of supplies in town just across the road from the marina. An excellent hypermarket (Ozdelik) is a 10 minute bus (dolmus) ride to the north. Ozdelik also has an excellent restaurant.
Eating out
Lots of places to eat in town. Within the marina, there is a smart fish restaurant, a Lavazza cafe has cakes and coffee, the Marina Brasserie and Tike bar which has an interesting menu and is quite lively.
Transportation
An excellent ferry service operates between Yalova and Istanbul, with ferries to Pendik (35 min) and Yenikapi (1 hour 15 minutes). Pendik is a short taxi ride (15 minutes) from Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and Yenikapi to Istanbul airport takes about 35 minutes.
Pendik also offers a train service to Hydrabasha, with train running every 15 mins, from where you can gt the cross bosphorus ferry to the european side of Istanbul.
Tourism
Limited tourism as yet, but the old city of Bursa is close by with frequent coaches from the bus station beside the marina.

- Don Quixote arrived in October 2011, wintered at the marina hardstanding and sailed this area in May 2012 and is berthed afloat in the Setur Marina Yalova for the summer. The hardstanding area has a great deal of dirt from work taking place in the area. --Jonquixote
