The huge new Marina di Scarlino lies 12 miles ESE of the port of Piombino and 20 miles E of the northernmost tip of the island of Elba. It provides a total of 960 berths for yachts up to 36 metres on seven pontoons (most with fingers) and associated quays. The marina is a good base for exploring the hinterland of Tuscany or embarking on a cruise to Elba and onwards to Corsica or the islands of the Tuscan archipelago.

The marina is situated at the eastern end of the Gulf of Follonica on the Tuscan coast of Italy, at the foot of the Rocca di Scarlino, a rocky bluff on which the town of Scarlino perches. The nearest settlement is the small hamlet of Puntone. The marina is enclosed by a long breakwater extending N from the coast and a second, wishbone-shaped breakwater separating the marina from the short canal just N. The entrance is oriented NNE and the entrance channel is buoyed. Depths in the entrance channel are 5.0 metres and in the harbour from 2.5 - 4.5 metres. The marina provides good shelter from all directions.

Location
The marina is about a kilometer from provisions and other shops in the town of Piombino. There is a minimarket in the marina shopping centre.
Transportation
The Via Aurelia (E80) runs 10 kilometers six miles N of the town of Puntone. The train station of Follonica is five kilometers from the marina, with regular trains to Roma and Pisa. The airport of Pisa is about 1 hr 15 mins away by road.
