Poti (Georgian: ფოთი; Mingrelian: ფუთი; Laz: ჶაში/Faşi; formerly known to the Turks as Faş) is a port city in [Georgia], located on the eastern Black Sea coast in the region of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti in the west of the country. Built near the site of the ancient Greek colony of Phasis (Φάσις) and deriving its name from the same, the city has become a major port city and industrial center since the early 20th century.
Poti is also home to a main naval base and the headquarters of the Georgian navy. It also has a very friendly and active Yacht Club which welcomes visiting yachts.

Entrance
Poti is a port of entry for Georgia. For details see Entrance: Georgia.
Call Port Control on VHF channel 16 when entering Georgian waters. You are likely to be met by a Coast Guard boat some way off the coast.
Once berthed, the Yacht Club personnel will organise clearance officials to come and complete formalities either on board or in the clubhouse. They can assist with translation also. If you are organised with all the necessary paperwork ready, officials are said to be very efficient.
It is useful to email the yacht club in advance of your visit.
Berthing
Enter the commercial harbour round the northern end of the breakwater. Once inside, continue past the Naval harbour. The Yacht Club is located in the centre of the port in the inner harbour, identified by the 5 story square tower.
