 The harbour of Sveti Martin |
The bay and harbour of Sveti Martin (Saint Martin) lie on the E coast of the island of Losinj, one mile NW of the harbour of Veli Lošinj and 11 miles S of the Osor canal. It is a convenient alternative port of call in suitable conditions for a visit to the main island town of Mali Lošinj, just over half a mile NW across a narrow spit of land when transiting the Osor canal. Like Veli Lošinj and Rovenska, the other ports along the E coast, the harbour becomes untenable with strong N winds.

There are no dangers in the approach to Sveti Martin. However, take care in the approach from N to give the headland immediately N of the harbour a good clearance as there are rocks off it. Shelter in the harbour is good from all directions except NE and E, when it becomes uncomfortable and, if strong, untenable.

Places to Visit
The village is quiet and not so picturesque as its near neighbours, Veli Losinj and Rovenska. However, it is usually quieter and Mali Losinj is only a half hour’s walk away over the spine of the island.
