Welcome to CruisersWiki!

We all look forward to your valued contributions to the Cruising Wiki. Help it grow as a useful, free resource for all cruisers around the world.

Spend a little time reading the help pages (link in L/H menu) and the Style Guide to gain a better understanding of the Wiki formatting and how to edit articles. Please add what you can - even correcting grammar and spelling errors in articles is a great help. The more you use the Wiki the easier (and more addictive) it becomes.

Use any page's "Discussion" tab (top of page's menu) to ask any questions or make any suggestions about that particular page.

Please set your personal preferences in "My Preferences" (link at top R/H of page when logged in).

Also, please read the Cruiserswiki Copyrights notice, as well as the General Disclaimers (links at bottom of pages).

Again, welcome and have fun! Bring out that hidden "Cruising Guide writer" in you. Lighthouse 21:58, 14 August 2011 (BST)

Care with editing

Please take care when editing only to modify the content of pages, not to change the layout. I've just had to spend half an hour correcting the layout errors you introduced on the Zut and Olib pages and restoring the missing photo captions. If you need advice on editing, please ask me or one of the other admins.

Meanwhile, thanks for checking the pages (presumably following your visit).

Olib & Zut

I have updated the page on Olib to conform with our Island template. During this I have found the following that maybe useful to you for future edits:

  1. There is no reason to use underscores in file names i.e. "Image:World_icon.png" and "Image:World icon.png" are both acceptable. The same comment applies for Categories at the end of the page
  2. When a previous author has added in the caption of picture <br />''Click for larger view'' or - ''Click for larger view'' please DO NOT remove
  3. On headers spaces are not needed between the text and the == i.e. == Charts == should be ==Charts==
  4. Blank lines right underneath a header are not needed
  5. In lists following the list sign it is good to include a space. This is not strictly needed but makes code of the list more readable by future wiki editors i.e ;British Admiralty should be ; British Admiralty
  6. Ampersands should not be encoded i.e ==Marinas &(amp;) Yacht Clubs== should be ==Marinas & Yacht Clubs==
  7. Please do not edit the fairly complicated code of the navigation bar. Just add the island's name
  8. Also do not encode the horizontal bars i.e. "I" should not be changed to "&# 124;"

Keep up the good work and do not hesitate to ask any questions. --Istioploos 07:18, 30 September 2013 (BST)
