More notes about the Marina |
Loano harbour has been totally redesigned in recent years and will constitute on completion one of the largest marinas along the Ligurian coast. Development is still in progress to provide an eventual total of over 900 berths. The marina will also have a boatyard capable of hauling vessels of up to 5,000 tonnes.
Marina radio contact
Contact Marina di Loano on VHF channel 09 prior to entry.
The blue cupola of the cathedral in Loano is visible from some distance off. Closer in, the long harbour breakwater, oriented NE/SW will be seen. Entry to the harbour is from N between this and a shorter, curving breakwater extending from the shore. Depths in the entrance are 5.5 metres.
Berthing
Marina staff will assist with berthing (from January 2011). Transit yachts usually berth on the end of the breakwater quay just to port inside the harbour entrance, though this may change with the development of the harbour.
