1On pontoons A-O 2Planned |
Msida Marina is generally the best place to keep a yacht in Valletta's Marsamxett harbour in terms of being the most sheltered. However like most of Malta's yachting berthing facilities it is usually crowded and berths may be hard to come by.
As at February 2011 the marina has been recently taken over by Creek Developments, having previously been run by the Malta Maritime Authority. Creek Developments is aiming to carry out a major refurbishment of the facilities including replacing of aging pontoons and installation of shower and toilet facilities. Creek Developments have an office midway along the northern side of the marina, just to the east of the Slipway Bar.
There are laid moorings to the pontoons and there is no need to anchor.
Note that Msida Breakwater is not part of Msida marina

Marina Location
In Marsamxett harbour between Valletta and Sliema. Protected by Msida breakwater.
Warning: When the NE wind blows, the dreaded Gregale, a very uncomfortable swell develops in the marina.
Berth reservation
The marina is very crowded and popular. It is best to make contact plenty of time before arrival. Yachts should email the marina in advance stating their dimensions and the period a berth will be required for.
The approaches are straight forward, however yachts should watch out for numerous day tripper boats operating around the harbour.
See also Arrival/Departure procedures for Malta.
===Berthing===Creek Developments have a Berthing Master working in the marina.
