An online cruising guide for yachts sailing to Ile d'Yeu

Situated mid-way between the French coastal ports of Saint-Nazaire and Les Sables d'Olonne, Ile d'Yeu lies about 15 miles offshore. Unlike the islands further north, Ile d'Yeu is a relatively flat island and has an excellent network of cycle and walking paths. The main harbour of Port Joinville has a very good marina with pontoon berths and all facilities.

Tourism and Things to do Ashore

Tourism

The town of Port Joinville is quiet but attractive, with a bustling waterfont market. The walk across the island to Pointe Du Chatelet is worth it for the views over the Atlantic coast. Port de la Meule is a charming little harbour overlooked by a brooding ruined castle in a wild and romatic setting.
