More notes about the Marina

The Marina Abruzzi (or to give it its full title, Marina Duca degli Abruzzi) is situated immediately E of the entrance to the Porto Vecchio (Old Harbour) of Genoa. The marina provides a total of 380 berths on 16 pontoons extending from either side of the basin and can accommodate yachts of up to 25 metres.

Marina radio contact

Call Marina Abruzzi on VHF channel 16 or 11 on approach to the basin and await instructions. As the berths here are managed by several separate organizations, you may get a response from any of them (see below).

Navigation/Approach

The marina is situated in a small basin just outside the Porto Vecchio (Old Harbour) of Genoa, which is protected by a long detached breakwater, Digo Foranea, and lies at the eastern end of the port. To reach the marina, leave the eastern end of the Digo Foranea to port and the Marina Fiera di Genova with its conspicuous exhibition centre to starboard before turning to starboard to enter the basin of Marina Abruzzi. Be alert to possible ship movements in and out of the Porto Vecchio, as it is used by several ferry lines.

Berthing

Berths in Marina Abruzzi are managed by four separate organizations, the Italian Lega Navale (tel. 010.2461201, Email); the Yacht Club Italiano (tel. 010.2461206 Website, Email); the Rowing Club Genovese (tel. 010.2461195 Email), and the Soc. Canottieri Elpis (tel. 010.2518720 Email). Berth wherever there is space and check in with the appropriate organization. Berthing assistance is available on request following radio contact on VHF channel 16 or 11 (0700 - 1900).
