Marina di Baia Vallugola is a small private marina situated on the Adriatic coast of Italy around seven miles NNW of the port of Pesaro and just under two miles E of the harbour of Cattolica. The marina offers berths for around 150 shallow draft yachts of up to 20 metres. Shelter in the marina is reasonably good, although access is dangerous in strong onshore winds in view of the narrow (20 metres wide) and shallow (3.0 - 4.0 metres) entrance channel. Strong NW winds would probably create a considerable surge in the basin and could make some berths untenable for a yacht with a draft of over 1.5 metres.

The entrance to Marina di Baia Vallugola consists of a narrow (20 metre) channel between a long breakwater, orientated WNW/ESE, which protects the marina from N and E and a shorter, western parallel to the shore. Beware of shoal patches just offshore on either side of the marina entrance. Minimum depths in the entrance are 3.0 metres. Depths in the marina itself are 1.8 - 2.5 metres, the deeper water being on the W side. Access is difficult and potentially dangerous in strong onshore winds.
Note: along this stretch of the Adriatic coast tidal ranges can exceed 1.0 metre at springs, so judging the tides right can make a significant difference to safe access in most of the shallower harbours.
