Miami Beach is not a cruiser-friendly town. One cruiser reports that shortly after dropping their anchor near the Venetian Causeway they were approached by the Miami Beach Police and given a form to sign that said, "This notice is to advise you that you are anchored or moored within the jurisdictional waters of the City of Miami Beach. Due to the proliferation of watercraft in the waters of Biscayne Bay within the boundaries of the City, and other adverse impacts arising therefrom, and this being a liveaboard vessel or a vessel not in navigation or not engaged in the exercise of rights of navigation as defined in City of Miami Beach Ordinance No. 2005-3484, codified at Section 66-8, Miami Beach City code, you are restricted to seven (7) consecutive days within a thirty (30) day period. If you continue to anchor or moor within the city's waters on 1/13/08, you will receive a Notice of Warning, advising you that you have forty-eight (4Cool hours to leave the jurisdictional waters of the City and that if you fail to do so, your vessel will be subject to fines, civil penalties, removal and impoundment, or other penalties as provided by law."
