Background Rize is a fairly large commercial harbor about 60 nM west of the border between Turkey and Georgia. It is a port of entry. Rize is built on the site of ancient Rhizaion (Ριζαίον). Charts

Approach and Navigation

The approaches to Rize are straightforward.

Rize Harbor

The harbor provides excellent all weather shelter.

You can anchor off inside the harbor or you can moor side-to the southeast quay.

The customs are located in the ferry building.

Tourism & things to do ashore

The Çay Entstitutu (Tea Institute) has a lovely garden with a good view. Well worth a visit.
