Marina radio contact
The marina on, the N side of the island, has been under construction since the early 1990s. The entrance of the marina is so exposed to the weather that neither entry or exit would be tenable with even normal meltemi. No one has been able to give an explanation what prompted this ill conceived project. Rumor has it that the marina started limited operation since 2005 but no specific information is provided by its purported operator Delos Marinas or by their major partner Vernicos Yachts. --Istioploos 19:07, 4 May 2008 (MDT)
Caution: The entrance of the marina is fully exposed to the prevailing northerly meltemi winds. There are also dangerous rocks 50 metres off the entrance, meaning that a vessel needs to follow a dog-leg course to enter. Use extreme caution if you are rash enough to enter. With strong meltemi winds the marina is untenable.

Personal experience
- I am afraid of entering with my boat in this "marina" Istioploos.
- We visited this 'marina' by land in July 2008 and it was just being used as a dump for rusting hulks. In only a moderate meltemi the entrance was unbelievably treacherous. The place is a deathtrap for any skipper unwise enough to go there --Athene of Lymington 16:09, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
