WorldSafety and SurvivalYacht's Grab-Bag

Yacht's "Grab-Bag"

In the unfortunate event of having to "Abandon Ship" it is imperative to have a "Grab" bag close to hand to carry on to the liferaft. Although all good quality liferafts are equiped with a small amount of emergency supplies and equipment, carrying on a "grab-bag" will add those extras that may be required.

Ideally, this bag must be a waterproof, soft bag and easy to grab, carry and pass to the liferaft. As it cannot be too large, careful thought must be given to it's contents and weight.

When underway on passage it is wise to keep the ship's papers and crew's passports in a waterproof wallet somewhere near the logbook. If the crew must abandon ship; take the wallet, logbook and "grab-bag" UP TO the liferaft.

In the contents your will find Olive Oil as a listed item. This is to wipe yourself with in an attempt to either limit or prevent saltwater infections and sores.
