* We arrived in light winds thinking that Foca might be a good base from which to connect to Izmir airport. We anchored at the north east corner of the big bay, off the swimming beach, in 5m with a dirt and light weed bottom. At 7am we found ourselves dragging in a gale that had suddenly built up, this despite our 33kg Rocna and 6:1 chain scope. We re-anchored a bit further south. And found ourselves dragging again at 09:30. We went further south again, just north of the tip of the peninsula separating the two harbours. We held firm all day, during moderate winds, until a 20:00 the wind picked up to 38kts and we were again dragging. 50m later the anchor had reset itself and we remained secure for the rest of the night. At 01:30 the wind disappeared again. A day visit to the western wall of the western bay (Bueyuekadeniz) as a place to anchor moor looked uninviting - and was a lee shore for the gales that had been raging. We concluded this was not a safe place to leave a boat while traveling to Izmir. The town, however, was pleasant with a huge fruit and vegetable market (Tuesday) - [[User:LifePart2|LifePart2]] 12:01, 24 July 2013 (BST)

Foca

  • We arrived in light winds thinking that Foca might be a good base from which to connect to Izmir airport. The town, however, was pleasant with a huge fruit and vegetable market (Tuesday) - LifePart2 12:01, 24 July 2013 (BST)
