Prince Rupert is a port city in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Located on Kaien Island, Prince Rupert is the land, air, and water transportation hub of British Columbia's North Coast, and has a population of 12,220 people (Statistics Canada, 2016).

Prince Rupert is principally a commercial port, both for cargo and cruise ships. It is a useful base before cruising on to either Alaska and the Queen Charlotte Islands. It is a sheltered, ice-free port.
