Darsena San Marco lies at the town of Grado, at the mouth of the lagoon of the same name, 11 miles E of Lignano and five miles SW of Monfalcone on the northern Adriatic coast of Italy. The small marina lies on the W side of the bridge connecting the town of Grado to the mainland, at the entrance to the Canale di Belvedere, 200 metres NE of the pontoons of the Lega Navale, Grado. It offers 70 berths on either side of the canal for yachts up to 19 metres in depths of 2.0 - 5.0 metres. Berths are at a premium during the summer months and there is often no space for a visiting yacht.

Marina radio contact

Call Darsena San Marco on VHF channel 69 or 16 (June-September, 0800-1200 and 1500-1800 only). Alternatively, telephone or email in advance for berthing information and reservations.

Navigation/Approach

The entrance to the Grado lagoon lies at World icon.png 45°39.6′N, 13°20.9′E, where there is a fairway buoy just under two miles offshore. Dangerous sandbanks extend for almost two miles on both sides of the entrance, so approach is only safe from this buoy, near high water and in settled weather. Approach should be made on a course of 040 degrees. The entrance channel, which is dredged to a depth of just 3.0 metres, is marked by piles on either side. Once inside the entrance, the channel forks. Take the starboard channel for around 300 metres, passing the entrance to Porto San Vito and the pontoons of the Lega Navale on starboard side. Do not get too close to the starboard channel markers in view of silting. The entrance to the Canale di Belvedere and the marina is 200 metres to port, just W of the road bridge. Beware of strong currents in the entrance, especially on the ebb.

Berthing

Berthing assistance available on request. Most berths are on the E side of the canal, the smaller ones for yachts up to 12.0 metres and draft up to 3.5 metres and the larger for yachts up to 20.0 metres and draft up to 4.5 metres. All berths are on catwalks with mooring posts. There are a few additional berths for yachts up to 16 metres on the W side of the canal on an island. These berths are equipped with finger pontoons and you need your dinghy to get ashore.
