The tiny harbour of Diamante lies 24 miles S of [[Maratea]] on the Calabrian coast of Italy, along the ‘instep’ of the peninsula. The harbour consists of little more than a short, curved breakwater giving some protection from winds from N/NW.  However, the harbour is completely open to winds from W round to SE and should only be used in settled weather. During the summer months a series of short pontoons are installed behind the breakwater offering berths for around 100 vessels of up to 18 metres.
