Unlike sailing in the deep waters of the Virgin Islands the approach to Jolly Harbour is over shoals. Your boats draft and personnel comfort level will dictate your route. The conservative approach is to first sail to a point north and west of Irish Bank. Then proceed along the south edge of Five Islands until east of Irish Bank. Finally just head toward the channel. This route should keep you in 20 feet of water until the channel is reached.
Check-in facilities (for Customs and Immigration)
The check-in facilities in Jolly Harbour are one of the easier to locate and use in the Caribbean. The building is located along east edge of the harbour.
Berthing Options
One of the docks in front of the Customs building is most likely available for temporary use, or dinghy in from your anchorage outside the harbour or mooring ball in the harbour.
Marinas & Yacht Clubs
Iff there are any marinas please either give a short description or better yet, provide a dedicated page (Marina Template).
Anchorages
Outside
Outside the harbour on both sides of the marked channel is lots of room to anchor. Be mindful of the depth, it shoals up, especially north of the channel. The bottom is very fine white sand/mud.
Inside
Anchoring is not permitted inside the harbour. There are about a dozen mooring balls available for use on a first come basic. Take your clearance papers and boat registration to the maria office when paying the fee. In 2010 the fee was $20 US per night.
