Lavrio or Laurio (Λαύριο) is a large commercial and fishing harbor. Within the harbor there is a section reserved for yachts. Several charter companies operate from here. They all have their own reserved area within the yacht section. So, there are few berths available for visiting yachts.
Lavrio has a long history as a mining town. Its silver mines were source of wealth to Classical Athens. Through out the 20th century and up to today there are lead.

Caution: This is an area of heavy commercial traffic. Use caution and monitor VHF channel 16.

Lavrio is a Greek port of entry/exit.
Berthing Options
If you find an empty berth in the yacht section that is not part of a charterer concession, take it, otherwise ask any of the charter companies if you can temporarily use one of their berths.
Visiting yachts are angrily whistled and shouted at should they attempt to moor up in the charter company areas. A floating pontoon, at the end of the concrete jetty separating the yachts and fishing vessels, has both water and electricity, is available at a moderate charge of about 18 euro a day, operated by the 'port authorities'. However, if you had made previous arrangements with a chartering company, you can use one of their berths. For the latest info, check with Lavrio Port Authority.
There are mooring lines and you should not anchor.

Personal Notes
- I came here at the request of Olympic Marina, who insisted I had to book in at the harbour first. It made little difference as no one came to the boat, and when I approached the port police, they seemed perplexed at my being there, finally filling out a crew list for me.
There's enough to see in Lavrio, but found it was rather expensive- breakfast deals typically costing 10 Euro. It's a little run down and a lot of the shops are empty. --BenPikeUK June 2013
