The anchorage should be approached from the northern end, to avoid the reefs extending from the shore in the centre and also towards the northern end.  At the time of visit (June 2009), the more northern of the two reefs was conveniently marked by a coastal freighter which had run aground on this reef.  However, attempts were being made to refloat it at the time, so it may be removed at some stage.

Ormos Zakros (Όρμος Ζάκρος) is a pleasant cove on southeastern Crete. Inland from the cove, is Kato Zakros, he site of a Minoan Palace, the fourth in size in Crete.

At the time of visit (June 2009), the more northern of the two reefs was conveniently marked by a coastal freighter which had run aground on this reef. However, attempts were being made to refloat it at the time, so it may be removed at some stage.
